Expectations are ramping up as the spring 2024 Apple Event draws near. A complete revamp of the iPad lineup is coming this year after no new iPad has been released since March 2022.
There are rumors that the new iPad Air 6 will come with a 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch display, which will make the current iPad lineup all the more cluttered and confusing, thus making it harder for consumers to make the purchase. Should you choose iPad Air or iPad Pro? And which model? If you’re upgrading from iPad Air 5 to iPad Air 6, will the old case fit the new tablet? Will the iPad Pro case be compatible with the iPad Air 6?
Today, we will focus on the iPad Pro 2024 and iPad Air 2024 and try to answer those questions.
iPad Pro 2024 Rumors Highlights
The iPad Pro 2024 will probably be powered by the M3 chip which can handle up to 24GB of RAM, 8-core CPU, and 10-core GPU. It will be more powerful than the iPad Pro 2022, which uses the M2 chip. Another big news with the upcoming iPad Pro is that they reportedly will use OLED displays to deliver more vibrant colors, true black levels, and nicer contrast.
As usual, the iPad Pro 2024 will come in two sizes, 11-inch and 12.9-inch. But they may get a bit thinner than the 2022 models.
We also heard tidbits that Apple will make the 13-inch size instead of 12.9-inch this year.
iPad Air 6 Features and Specifications
The current iPad Air 5 is based on a 10.9-inch display and an M1 chip. The new iPad Air 6 will be available in both 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch sizes and use M2 chips. And we couldn’t rule out the possibility of a faster refresh rate, a new camera bump and other upgrades.
Does 11-inch iPad Pro Case Fit iPad Air 5?
These two devices have similar sizes but a different camera bump on the back.
Some covers for the 11-inch iPad Pro may work with the 10.9-inch iPad Air 5, and some may not. Magnetic iPad folio covers and alike usually have a broad compatibility range as those cases attach magnetically to the tablet and do not cover the edges.
You can always check the packaging or compatibility list to see if a cover works with your iPad.
Will the New 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro Cases Fit iPad Air 6?
If the iPad Air 6 does come with the same sizes as the iPad Pro 2024 and has a smaller camera bump, chances are the covers for the iPad Pro will fit the iPad Air 6.
Will the iPad Pro 2022 Case Fit iPad Pro 2024?
The current 11-inch iPad Pro measures in at 5.9 mm thick. The new one is said to be 5.1mm thick. And the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro is 6.4mm thick, while the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro will be 5 mm thick, according to 9to5mac.
If the iPad Pro 2024 models do come out thinner, cases that snap around corners of the device would not work for both the new and old tablets. But cases that only cover the front and back should work.
Will iPad Air 5 Case Fit iPad Air 6?
Rumors have it that the rear camera on the iPad Air 6 will be housed in a new camera bump. It’s uncertain whether the iPad Air 5 Case will fit iPad Air 6. But if you’re using a magnetic folio cover like Apple’s Smart Folio, then it might work with the new tablet.
